The role
Toolmakers manufacture high-precision components from various metals for injection mould, press, stamping, forming and die-casting tools. They assemble the manufactured parts into complete units and, after final assembly, check that all components function correctly.
During your apprenticeship, you will not only machine material manually—you will also work with modern CNC milling machines with computer-controlled precision, which you will program and operate yourself. Your training also includes additional processes such as welding, turning, EDM and grinding.
As a toolmaker, you independently carry out maintenance, servicing and repairs of tools. Due to the high quality standards required in manufacturing and assembly, toolmaking is considered one of the most demanding metalworking professions and requires thorough training.
